Inositol

Inositol is a feed additive that is very much like B vitamins and is an essential micronutrient in aquatics. It is available in the biological membrane of plants and animals. It has an active role in transfer of nurosignals, adjustment of enzymatoic activities and metabolism of fats. It prevents the accumulation of fat in the liver, and thus, fatty liver disease. Studies done on Atlantic Salmon, the Silver Carp and the Nile tilapia have shown that inclusion of inositol in the feed results in lower plasma triglyceride and the total fat in muscle tissues of the fish.
